AI Serious Game for Young Entrepreneurs

How does the use of artificial intelligence (AI) affect a company? Before young entrepreneurs have to dive into AI headfirst, Zukunftszentrum Süd — advisors from the UnternehmerTUM startup center — developed a serious game on the topic of AI: a two-day workshop in game form. What matters for this detail-rich game is the recognizability of the Zukunftszentrum Süd brand, consistency in design, and universal usability across all touchpoints in the game. Our holistic design approach provides orientation throughout the game, reflects the diversity of society, and strengthens the Zukunftszentrum Süd brand.

Zukunftszentrum Süd is a partner of UnternehmerTUM GmbH, founded in 2002 by Susanne Klatten, which supports startups from research and technology as they launch.

Task

Design for a serious game on the topic of artificial intelligence in the workplace.

50 designs for the game that strengthen the brand and provide orientation — AI yes or no.

The Scope of the Game

We create 50 designs, including for the instructions, playing cards, manuals, posters, game box, strategy sheets, and email designs. At the same time, we research: How does Zukunftszentrum Süd portray AI? How is AI used in companies? What are the criteria for game design?

Portraying AI

No clichés! The robot as a symbol for artificial intelligence is out. We focus on the details — for example, the density of information on a playing card — and define the style and layout for the game. The design needs to be simple and achievable within a realistic timeframe. We develop the layout concept iteratively: first a prototype, from which we then derive all further variants.

Diversity, Thoughtfully Represented

Our choice of characters is diverse: people of different ethnicities, people wearing headscarves, and wheelchair users are all included. From the 50 individual game materials, we develop a visually appealing overall package.

Risikofrei KI implementieren

With the serious game, users can implement AI in their young company. To do this, we prepared and structured the complex information in an appealing way. With the clear design, founders can fully focus on developing their business further.
